To those of you who stuck with me through my impulsive decision to host a creative challenge (Creative Recess!) during one of the busiest months of my life… THANK YOU. And to those of you who didn’t participate but still followed along week to week, you get a gold star too ⭐️

Candidly, one of the reasons I wanted to put this together was just to see if I could. I’d been thinking about hosting a challenge for months, and finally had the realization: if not now, when? The annoying part of me chose to do it during an already chaotic month, but that’s also kind of the point. My two cents:

  • It’s so easy to put off the thing you’ve been thinking of doing, big or small.

  • Making room for creativity (even just a tiny bit a day) is not only possible, but it gives your overworked brain a chance to soften.

Over the past few weeks, you’ve carved out time to get curious and experiment (on top of everything else going on in your life). I hope you’re proud of that!

Before we jump into week 4, a couple of quick housekeeping announcements/asks:

  • New interview series: Next week I’m kicking off a new series featuring creatives, designers, and anyone with a strong point of view on living beautifully (and colorfully). I have some truly wonderful people lined up, and I can’t wait to share their worlds with you.

  • Tiny joys: ARE BACK! That is the message! I know the tiny joy format resonated with a lot of you, so don’t worry, it’s hitting your inbox very soon. I’ve been busy being a little joy collector, hogging all these happy treasures.

  • Help me with a paint story: I’m working on a new piece about how we actually choose paint colors. If you have thoughts on this topic, reply to this email! But also, if you just have a sec to answer this one-question poll, I’d be so grateful:
